Sat Nov 17th Seed Processing.
The North Branch Annual Seed Processing Day is another kind of effort to help our native plants regain their place in the region. Throughout the growing season, seed collectors have been collecting rare native seed from our woodlands, prairies, and savannas. Volunteers are needed to clean this seed, so that it can be placed into mixes and distributed to the sites for sowing. Please join us this Saturday 11/17/2018 starting at 9 am at the Skokie Park District Facility at 7500 Frontage Road just north of Touhy in Skokie. We work until all the seed is processed, generally around 2 pm. No experience is required; we provide all the tools. Feel free to bring a snack to share. A great chance to meet neighbors from the community and volunteers from other sites, while helping to expand the rich plant diversity of the North Branch of the Chicago River.
